Nineveh man charged with two felonies and misdemeanor for battery and possession

NINEVEH – A 37-year-old Nineveh man Andrew Jasper has been charged with two level 6 felonies for battery on a minor less than 14 years old and possession of methamphetamine. He has also been charged with a class B misdemeanor for possession of marijuana.

On May 20, Sheriff’s Deputy Joshua Bales responded to a call on Ford Ridge Road that Jasper was yelling and breaking things.

According to the report, Jasper was in the driveway and appeared to be under the influence. Bales checked Jasper for weapons and allegedly found two canisters in his pocket, one appearing to contain methamphetamine and the other marijuana.

Bales allegedly told Jasper to wait in the driveway while he entered the residence. According to the report, Bales spoke with Jasper’s aunt, nephew and grandmother. Jasper allegedly asked for money and when no one would give him any, he yelled at his grandmother and called her vulgar names. Jasper’s 13-year-old nephew allegedly defended the grandmother and Jasper pushed him against a wall. The nephew was allegedly recovering from an appendectomy.

According to the report, Bales stepped out of the residence to speak with Jasper and found Jasper sitting with an open pocket knife that he had acquired since Bales last saw him.

Bales allegedly detained him and placed Jasper in his vehicle. According to the report, Jasper unbuckled his seatbelt and was banging on the car window, yelling at Bales.

According to the report, Bales took statements from the involved parties and Jasper was checked by medics before being transferred to Johnson Memorial Hospital for further evaluation.

Jasper’s nephew was also checked by medics but the family allegedly refused medical transport.

Driver has seizure, crashes into tree

HAMBLEN TWP. – On May 21, Sheriff’s Deputies Joshua Bales and Jacob Gibson responded to a call that there was a vehicle that crashed into a telephone pole near Sweetwater Trail and the driver was locked in the car experiencing seizures.

According to the report, there was a blue 2016 Hyundai Sonata off of the roadway into a telephone pole. The vehicle had front passenger damage, but no airbag deployment.

According to the report, there was a volunteer firefighter on the scene attempting to stabilize driver Lakendra Albert. Bales was informed that she had allegedly reported neck pain and was actively experiencing seizures.

According to the report Albert also complained of shoulder pain, but had no outward signs of injury. Albert was transported to Hamblen Township Volunteer Fire Department and airlifted to IU Health methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
