Deep in the woods of Morgantown, Brown County Dragway’s Fall Invitational roars to life Friday through Sunday.

The event weekend takes off with the Brad Wedan Memorial Brown County Chaos street race on Friday at 10 a.m.

Test and Tune with index, grudge and motorcycle racing is also on the books for Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. before the night race starts at 6 p.m. Admission is $20 at the gate, kids age 10 and under are admitted free.

Saturday marks the official beginning of the Fall Invitational bracket racing. Gates open at 9 a.m. all weekend, and time runs are scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. Saturday and Sunday. Racers can pay their entry fees at the gate to be a part of the bracket racing. Pro and Super Pro categories cost $60 to enter; Sportsman and Motorcycle each cost $35; Junior costs $10 to enter.

Last year the bracket races saw 103 entries, according to RC Bracket Events Co-Owner Christina Covey.

“The entry fee does go straight to the purse for the most part. Depending on the class, there’s some broken down to 80%,” Covey said. 80% of the entry fee for categories Super Pro and Motorcycle are entered into the purse for winners to share, and all other categories have 100% of entry fees in their purse.

On top of entry fees, $1,000 was donated to the purse with the intent of using $500 for the Pro class and $500 for Sportsman for the weekend on top of the entry fees, said Covey.

Admission for the bracket races costs $15 for adults and is free for kids ages 10 and under.

The Dragway is planning on hosting trick or treating, a costume contest, a Halloween trailer decoration contest and a golf cart race on Saturday night. Sunday is scheduled to have the bracket races, without the other contests or Halloween-themed events. While vendors are not involved in the event, drinks and other concessions will be available for purchase.

“We want it to be a family fun, friendly environment,” Covey said. “It is like all family there, that’s why our hearts are there to keep it going. What matters is the support we get, it’s impressive. Even though they’re strangers, we’re like a family.”

The Morgantown Fire Department will be acting as the emergency medical responders for both racers and spectators during the weekend.

“The one thing that means the most to me is a lot of the crew that volunteers their time to keep this going have been a part of this track for 30 years,” Covey said.
