Off-road motorcyclist ejected, lands among cows

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP — An Indianapolis man was thrown from his motorcycle and slightly injured after driving onto a farm and coming to a stop among cows, authorities reported.

On Oct. 13, Sheriff’s Deputy Greg Duke responded to a crash on Salt Creek Road, where Juan Mejais Anaya, 26, from Indianapolis, had been driving a black 2007 Yamaha YZF-R6. According to a report, he failed to maintain the proper lane while entering a curving section of the road.

He drove off the road and dropped to the level of a farm field. He continued across the field for around 300 feet before striking a fence and dropping into a ditch, a report said.

The motorcycle flipped and Mejais Anaya was ejected from the vehicle. Both Mejais Anaya and the motorcycle came to rest in the cattle pen.

According to the report, based on the distance Mejais Anaya and the motorcycle were catapulted by the impact, he appeared to be traveling at a high speed before the crash.

The vehicle was towed as a result of disabling damage, Mejais Anaya was complaining of pain in his neck but the injury was not deemed incapacitating.

Columbus man faces drug-related misdemeanors

NASHVILLE — A 43-year-old Columbus man, Jeremy Littiken, has been charged with a class A misdemeanor for possession of a controlled substance and a class B misdemeanor for possession of marijuana.

On Oct. 10, Sheriff’s deputies Ethan Morrison and Cody Loncaric were running radar on traffic in the area of State Road 46 and Fair Oaks Trail when they were passed by a red Subaru Impreza that appeared to have no license plate lights. Morrison followed the vehicle driven by Littiken and conducted a traffic stop.

According to the report, Morrison asked Loncaric if he smelled the odor of marijuana while retrieving Littiken’s information, he then asked Loncaric to speak with Littiken to see if he could detect the odor.

After speaking with Loncaric, Morrison requested Sheriff’s deputies Trevor Johnson and Jeffrey Dames to back them up on the stop.

Loncaric smelled marijuana and asked Littiken if he would consent to a search of the vehicle for marijuana in the car. During the search, the deputies located an apparent marijuana roach in an empty cigarette box, a pill bottle of Buprenorphine-nalaxon — used for the treatment of opioid use disorder — with the another person’s name on it, and a partially smoked blunt.

Records show Littiken was charged Oct. 15 in Brown Circuit Court.
