Burn ban issued for Brown County

Brown County Commissioners have enacted a county-wide burn ban effective until 9 a.m. Nov. 15.
“Drought conditions persist while predictions for rain are dismal,” according to a statement posted by the Brown County Emergency Management Agency. “We are watching humidity very closely as a key condition for fire weather. Winds are starting to pick up and will contribute to spreading burning.”
Open burning is prohibited under the ban. Campfires in a ring are allowed as long as they are monitored. Burn barrels are not permitted and no fire should be left overnight without control, officials said.
