SNOW DAYS: Snow storms cause closings, travel advisories and — fun

0
After two and a half days of rain, ice and, finally, snow, the county started to come out and enjoy their snow days. Kids took to the hill at the Brown County School Corporation administration building, a favorite sledding destination for locals. The packed-down snow with a layer of ice underneath made for speedy sledding and snowboarding on Feb. 4. The Brown County State Park was serenely quiet. It seemed as though every inch beneath a usually thick canopy could be seen, with leaf-less trees and snow covered grounds in the valleys. Nashville was just as quiet, except for cars passing by and a few individuals shoveling sidewalks, getting ready for the weekend ahead. Following the winter storm, around 5 inches of snow had fallen on top of a layer of ice, causing most residents to stay home as Brown County Highway Department crews worked to clear the roads.
