2 artists featured at gallery for April
Hoosier Artist Gallery, 45 S. Jefferson St., is featuring the artwork of Carol Koetke and Cheryl Duckworth this month.
Koetke, a photo artist, is drawn to natural and man-made objects that no longer look or function like the originals.
Duckworth, a painter, describes her acrylic artwork as whimsical realism. Her inspiration comes from the Monroe and Brown County countryside as she paints flowers, pets, and wildlife.
Paint Box seeks contributing artists
The Paint Box Art Gallery, 94 W. Franklin St. in Antique Alley, is seeking artists to interview so that their work can be displayed.

Artists chosen should be available for three or four days per month to sit in the shop.
The shop, established downtown in 1973, features a variety of works.

Viewing/discussion of floral paintings
Beginning at noon Saturday, April 11, the Brown County Art Guild, 48 S. Van Buren St., will host Slow Art Day, an extended viewing of five floral paintings from the permanent collection.
Viewing will be followed by a discussion led by Sherry Stark of the Indiana Arts Commission during lunch at the Hob Nob Corner restaurant.

Youth art show award presentation
From 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, April 25, the Brown County Art Guild, 48 S. Van Buren St., will host a reception and awards presentation for young Indiana artists.
The event is free and open to the public. Light snacks will be served. Awards will be presented by artist Wyatt LeGrand.

Historic site hosts outdoor art contest
BELMONT — From 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 16, T.C. Steele State Historic Site, 4220 T.C. Steele Road off State Road 46 West, will host an outdoor art contest, Festival of Flowers PaintOut.
T.C. Steele, known as the “dean” of the Brown County Artists Colony, was one of the first Impressionist painters to settle in Brown County at the beginning of the 20th century. Plein air painters and artists from all over the Midwest visit each year to paint the House of the Singing Winds, Steele’s hilltop home; Steele’s large studio; and Selma Steele’s gardens.
Pre-registered artists will create artwork outdoors while visitors can observe the process. All work submitted for judging must be created the day of the contest. Adult categories include oil, acrylic, watercolor, mixed media and drawing. Youth categories are child, 12 and younger; and teen, 13 to 18, in all media.
Lunch will be available for purchase from Bloomingfoods, with an outdoor concert by Mel Chance and the Noteables beginning at 1 p.m.
Public parking is available for $2.
Artist registration during April costs $10 per adult, $9 per member of Friends of T.C. Steele, $5 per child or $4 per member child. May registration costs $15 per adult, $14 per member, $10 per child or $9 per member child.
