Floyd Glenn “Bucky” Walters, 87, of Trafalgar, passed away Friday, Jan. 29, 2016, at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin.

Born in Johnson County July 29, 1928, Bucky was son of the late Clarence Leonard and Olive Bell (Weddle) Walters. He attended school in Trafalgar. On May 14, 1952, he enlisted in the United States Army, serving as a corporal with the 28th Quartermaster Company, 28th Infantry Division, during the Korean War.

He married Inez Lynne (Brock) Walters in Bargersville, Feb. 11, 1972; she lovingly survives after 43 devoted years of marriage.

Bucky is also survived by his children, Vickie Jo Walters and Dwaine (Vanessa) Walters, both of Kentucky, Teresa (Bill) Harrell and Beth (Bill) Crousore, both of Franklin, Floyd (Rose) Walters of Charlestown, Roy (Roberta) Walters of Rising Sun, and Brian (Debbie) Walters of Martinsville; siblings, Clarene Miller of Bargersville, Ruby Shirley of Beech Grove, and Doris Whitaker and Nolan Leon Walters, both of Indianapolis; 29 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren; and godchildren, Glenna Lynne Perry and Christopher Andrew Perry, both of Morgantown.

He was preceded in death by his son, Kevin Walters; and siblings, Alice Selch, Dorothy Frazier, Norman Walters and Robert Walters.

Bucky retired in 1990 as a service specialist for Indiana Gas Company in Franklin after 25 years of service. Prior to that, he worked for Gaile’s Gas in Morgantown for five years. Bucky was a 65-year member of Mt. Carmel Christian Church; Union Village Masonic Lodge No. 545 and former member of the IBEW Local No. 1393 in Indianapolis. Bucky attended Jewell Village Baptist Church in Columbus. He had a passion for bluegrass music and entertained many family and friends with his bass playing. Bucky was a member of the Blue Grass Country Cutups band, Elvin Rooks & The Bluegrass Ramblers, Green Mountain Boys band and had the privilege of playing with some of the greats, like Grandpa Jones and Benny Martin. He also enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, riding and driving quarter horses.

The Revs. Chuck Crossland and Harold Summers will conduct a funeral service at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 5, at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry St. in Morgantown. Friends can call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 4, at the funeral home. Burial will be in East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown with military rites presented by the Martinsville American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars honor guards.
