League of Women Voters supports We the People team

The League of Women Voters of Indiana and the League of Women Voters of Brown County have contributed to Brown County’s We the People team — $1,000 from the state group and $500 from the county group.

The team of eighth-graders is raising money to go to the national civics education contest in Washington, D.C., in April — its fourth showing at nationals.

“This is the only program I know of in the state that promotes this type of education for our young people — our future voters and leaders,” said local League member Susanne Gaudin, whose granddaughter is on this year’s team.

She said the We the People program encourages exactly the kind of learning and understanding the League of Women Voters would like to see in every citizen.

Sarah E. Wagler

Gov. Mike Pence reappointed Sarah E. Wagler of Brown County to serve a four-year term on the State Board of Animal Health. Her term will last through March 31, 2020.
