BEAN BLOSSOM — A Columbus woman faces felony burglary and theft charges after police say she broke into a family member’s vacant home and stole valuables.

A family member of Tricia E. McDonald, 27, reported to Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy Brian Shrader that McDonald wasn’t allowed at the home, but she had been entering through a broken bedroom window.

In February, the owner noticed several items missing, including an antique mantel clock, a TV, a shadow box, several tools and some rings, including a wedding ring belonging to McDonald’s deceased grandmother.

When confronted about the clock, the police report said McDonald told the relative she had no intention of selling the items, but wanted what she was “entitled” to.

Using an online database, Shrader was able to find seven rings in pawn shops in Martinsville, Elletsville and Bloomington that McDonald had put on loan.

Two relatives identi- fied all of the rings as belonging to McDonald’s grandmother and said that she had no right to them. The jewelry was stored behind locked doors in the barn and home.

On March 16, McDonald was charged with burglary, a Level 4 felony, and theft, a Level 6 felony.
