We are experiencing extremely windy weather which is causing outages throughout our service territory. Currently we have 900 out in Columbus/Bartholomew and 2,250 in Brown County at 8:45 p.m. We are still assessing damage and sending crews to hardest hit areas. No estimated time of restoration has been posted. We have crews out in all our districts as do all the other utilities.
In Nashville, the transmission line is out due to a large tree. We are hopeful to clear this tree by midnight tonight. This will help, but not solve all the outages as we know we have several broken poles and cross arms that need to be fixed as well on the distribution side.
We ask that customers who have not called and are out to please do so at 1-800-343-3525. Please stay away from any downed power lines and treat them as if they were energized. We appreciate your patience as we work to restore power in a safe and efficient manner.

9 a.m. Sunday update: We made progress last night. Currently have 600 customers out in Columbus/Bartholomew and 750 in Nashville/Brown counties. We anticipate having the assessment done soon and then can establish estimated time of restoration.

Please keep in mind these winds impacted the whole state and our crews were out last night so some will be on required sleep time for safety reasons until this afternoon.  We are working as quickly and and safely as possible. Also, it is worth noting that winds are expected to increase throughout the day today which could cause additional damage.

Customers who are still out should call 1-800-343-3525 and report it. Also, customers can see outage maps at www.duke-energy.com.

4:45 p.m. update: In Columbus/Bartholomew County we have 70 out and 80 customers out in Nashville/Brown County. We expect to have them restored by 11:45 p.m. Sunday, April 3. Keep in mind as the winds pick up that weakened limbs could fall and cause additional outages.
