Six Brown County students have won ribbons and prize money in the 19th annual Mabel B. Annis Memorial Student Art Competition.
The show at the Brown County Art Gallery is a joint effort among the Annis Trust, the Gallery Foundation and Indiana Heritage Arts.
It hangs until Sunday, May 8; visitors are encouraged to come by and vote for a People’s Choice winner, who will receive $100.
Fourteen area schools participate from seven counties.
Robert Annis, an Indianapolis businessman, created the student art competition in memory of his mother, with the goal of creating a professional setting for students to exhibit their work and offer them for sale.
This year, a photography division was added, and winners were given “judges awards” instead of placing first, second or third in different mediums.
Awards were given during a reception April 24. Judges were Norene Mara for artwork and Rodney Margison for photography.
Winners came from eight area junior and senior high schools. Local winners were:

Nicola Adams, Brown County Junior High School, Best of Show, $150 prize for “The Dream Wolf,” an ink drawing.Sara Fishel, BCJHS, judges award, $75 prize for “Untitled,” a pencil drawing.
Chloee Robison, BCJHS, judges award, $75 prize for “Library View,” a pencil drawing.
Emily Earnshaw, BCJHS, judges award, $75 prize for “Cityscape,” a 3D paper sculpture.
Cordy Mockler, BCJHS, judges award, $75 prize for “Into the Light,” a mixed-media print.
