Woodworkers

The Brown County Woodworkers will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 4 at the Brown County Public Library.

Special guest presenter will be Marc Adams, founder of Marc Adams School of Woodworking. He will talk about his lifelong woodworking journey and showing slides of his impressive projects.

Rotary Club

STORY — Thursday, May 5, Brown County Rotary Club will meet at Story Inn, 6404 State Road 135 South, which boasts its “one inconvenient location” in Brown County.

Beginning at 7:15 a.m., Jacob and Kate Ebel, new managers of the popular Midwest restaurant, inn and surrounding properties, will host the club’s breakfast meeting.

The couple will take Rotary members on a tour; tell about plans to emphasize not only the inn’s menu but also the area’s history; how Dr. Story began the site for his medical practice in 1880; and what they have learned about the town of Story’s early general store, the nearby Ten O’clock Indian Treaty Line, the grist mill, wagon works, blacksmith shop and tourist accommodations.

Widowed group

The Brown County Widowed Group will meet for lunch at noon Friday, May 13 at Brewed Awakenings in Morgantown, at the site of a former laundromat just past a closed gas station. Those attending should notify Joanne by Wednesday, May 11. Any widowed person is welcome.

The group will also sponsor euchre parties at 1 p.m. Tuesdays, May 24 and June 14 at Sycamore Valley Community Center, 746 Memorial Drive at the fairgrounds.

Hopeful Planters

On Tuesday, May 17, the Hopeful Planters Garden Club will meet at 9:30 a.m. at the Howard F. Hughes Community Building (Brown County Community Foundation office) on North Van Buren Street.

The club will then carpool to tour Winton Iris Hill flower beds, then travel to Franklin for lunch. Last, the club will meet and tour the Johnson County History Museum.

Members are encouraged to invite guests.
