Two Nashville men were injured after one turned in front of the other on State Road 46 at about 2:30 p.m. May 20.

The police report said Carol A. Lucas, 81, was driving east on 46 when he turned left onto Hoover Road in front of a westbound vehicle driven by Alan L. Everroad, 63.

The trucks collided. Lucas told police he did not see Everroad’s truck when he turned; Everroad said he tried to avoid Lucas’ truck, but could not miss it.

Everroad’s truck ran off the north side of State Road 46, west of Hoover Road and down an embankment into a ditch, a police report from the Brown County Sheriff’s Department said.

Lucas was trapped in his truck. He was taken to Columbus Regional Hospital for treatment for lacerations to his face, head, arm and hand along with back, hip and neck pain.

Everroad was taken to CRH for back, hip and neck pain treatment, and for internal abdominal injuries, the report said.

Lucas had two dogs in his truck; they were taken to the Brown County Humane Society by Animal Control Officer Amanda Sisson.

Both trucks were towed.

The scene was clear for traffic to continue flowing around 4 p.m., according to dispatch records.
