To the editor:

A delicious fundraising event is coming this year to the Village Green and it will make your mouth water.

Brown County Habitat for Humanity will be conducting four pie auctions throughout the summer and fall, beginning 3:30 p.m. Saturday, May 28.

Local homemade pies made by famous and infamous pie makers will be up for grabs. Some of the tantalizing choices at the May 28 auction will include Ernie Pyle Rhubarb (you’ll have to attend the auction to know what that is all about), Old Timer Shoofly Pie, very rare and hard to find Hickory Nut Pie, grown in Brown County Fruit Pies (think persimmon) and for meat lovers, organically raised Brown County Chicken Pot Pie! The Hoosier Cream Pie even comes with a pie necklace!

Each auction will have at least 10 pies to sell and all funds will go toward local Habitat for Humanity projects such as Brush with Kindness or the 2017 house build.

Come be a part of his new and exciting fundraiser. Bring your friends and wallets to support Habitat’s Pie Auctions on May 28, June 18, Aug. 20 and Oct. 8.

Afterward, a free Arts Village Concert will begin at the Village Green Pavilion at 4:30 p.m. So buy a pie and have your music too!

Sandie Jones, Brown County Habitat for Humanity board member
