Brown County Water rate increase to appear on June bill

The rate increase Brown County Water Utility was expecting because of its infrastructure projects will start appearing on June water bills, which will be processed May 31, said BCWU Office/Administration Manager Ellen Masteller.

The 1.68 percent increase will go toward paying for the $8,113,000 in improvements currently underway, according to a BCWU press release.

Customers will see a 58-cent increase for every 2,000 gallons of water used, said BCWU President Ben Phillips.

In addition to giving permission for the rate increase for these projects, the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission gave BCWU permission to pass on other rate increases from its water suppliers to customers, Phillips said.
