Pet Tails: Free pet adoptions scheduled for Saturday

From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, July 23, the Brown County Humane Society shelter, 128 State Road 135 South, will participate in the national Clear the Shelters event.

All adoptions will be free for every animal at the shelter.

Barn sale to support the animals

It’s the biggest yard sale of the year, with thousands of items available and all of the money going to support the animals at the shelter.The annual barn sale will be Thursday to Saturday, Aug. 11 to 13 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the humane society barn, 128 State Road 135 South, Nashville.

Donations will be gratefully accepted at the barn Friday and Saturday, Aug. 5 and 6 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday to Tuesday, Aug. 7 to 9 from noon to 4 p.m.

What type of donations are we looking for? Anything in good shape, except clothing and shoes. Just look around your house and see what you’re no longer using. If you can’t use it, someone else can.

Some examples of items we accept: furniture, antiques, tools, sports equipment, toys, books/CDs/records/DVDs, kitchen appliances, garden equipment, collectibles, fishing gear, artwork, crafts, cars/boats/trucks, jewelry, knick-knacks, dishes/mugs/cookware, lamps and rugs.
