Pet Tails: Secondhand items provide second chances

0

The Brown County Humane Society will gratefully begin accepting donations for the annual barn sale on Friday, Aug. 5.

Every item donated has value, and the purchase of those items provides critical funds to support the shelter.

Items which one person no longer wants will go on to have new purpose with other people — just like the animals at the shelter.

Donations can be brought to the humane society barn, next to the shelter at 128 State Road 135 South, during the following hours:

Friday and Saturday, Aug. 5 and 6 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Sunday through Tuesday, Aug. 7, 8 and 9 from noon to 4 p.m.

What type of donations are we looking for? Anything in good shape (except clothing and shoes).

That box of books could be worth enough to feed a cat for a week.

That dresser might raise the money for spay/neuter services for a dog.

That lawn mower will fund the vaccines for a litter of kittens.

What you can’t use, someone else can, and it all saves the lives of our shelter animals.

Come back to the barn during the sale and shop for the things you need: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday to Saturday, Aug. 11 to 13.
