Rotary Club

Laura Hammack, beginning her first year as superintendent of Brown County Schools, will speak to the Brown County Rotary Club about “Brown County’s public school outlook.”

Rotary meets for breakfast at 7:15 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 1, in Nashville’s Artists Colony Inn, 105 S. Van Buren St.

Area residents interested in hearing the program and learning more about Rotary are welcome.

Woodworkers club

BEAN BLOSSOM — The Brown County Woodworkers Club will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7, at St. David’s Episcopal Church at state roads 135 North and 45. Ralph Linscott will explain and show furniture he made for the church.

The club is open to anyone. There are no officers or dues. There is also an offshoot club for woodturners.

Widowed group

The Brown County Widowed Group will meet for lunch at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, at Red Lobster, 2617 E. Third St. in Bloomington.

The group will meet to carpool in the Brown County IGA parking lot at the first aisle at the entrance end at 12:25 p.m.

Any widowed person is welcome. Call Joanne Day at 812-597-5593 or Keith Bradway at 812-597-0811 by Wednesday, Sept. 7, to RSVP with where you will meet or to carpool.

The group will also sponsor euchre parties at 1 p.m. Tuesdays, Sept. 13 and 27, at Sycamore Valley Community Center, 746 Memorial Drive at the fairgrounds.

Retired teachers

The Brown County Retired Teachers will have lunch at noon and tour the Brown County Art Gallery during their meeting Tuesday, Sept. 13.

Kevin Ault will cater the $13 luncheon.

Photography club

The Brown County Photography Club will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13, at the Brown County Public Library, 205 N. Locust Lane.

The club is open to anyone interested in photography. Meetings the second Tuesday of each month include photo shares and tech tips. The club also schedules one photography day trip each month and exhibits work in local venues several times each year.

Preservation society

At 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 15, newly formed group, the Brown County Cemetery Preservation Society, will meet in a lower-level meeting room of the Brown County Public Library, 205 Locust Lane.

Henderson reunion

FRUITDALE — Aug. 7 at the Henderson Reunion grounds, 75 descendants of Alva Irwin and Alice Deckard Henderson gathered for the annual Henderson reunion.

Patriarch, Ollen Henderson, son of Alva and Alice, and matriarch, Rosetta Henderson Adams, daughter of Alice and Alva, welcomed guests.

Thelma Bales Forsyth and her daughter, Linda, were special guests. Forsyth is the daughter of Rachel Deckard Bales, Alice’s sister.

Also in attendance were David Henderson, son of George and Irene Axsom Henderson, and his son, Michael Henderson and family; David Henderson, grandson of George and Irene, son of Phillip Dean and Becky Winkler Henderson; Jeff Goddard, grandson of George and Irene, son of Judy Henderson and Dale Goddard; and James Otis Henderson, son of Otis and Alice Stephens Henderson and his family.
