Editor’s note: The Brown County Democrat asked principals to pass a note with questions from us to their new teachers. We’ll be introducing them over the next few weeks.

Alyson Hanus

Serving: Sprunica Elementary School as a kindergarten teacher

Where are you from, originally? Lowell

Where did you work before coming here? Chicago

What made you decide to be a teacher? I was born a teacher! Teaching has been instilled in me since day one. I come from a long line of teachers and it’s naturally the only thing I’ve ever wanted to do.

What are you most looking forward to this school year? I’m looking forward to a brand new challenge. This is my ninth year teaching, but my first year teaching general education and my first year teaching kindergarten. I’m coming from a middle school special education setting, so it’s quite a change, but a very welcomed change.

What is one thing you want your students to know about you? I want them to know that I am a person who will always hold them to high expectations because I believe in them and what they are capable of becoming. I want my students to know that I’m 100 percent invested in their success and their happiness.
