Sometimes, a shelter animal needs a little extra attention in order to thrive.
Perhaps they’re recovering from medical treatment and need a quiet place to recoup.
Maybe they’re overwhelmed by all of the noises and smells and need a less stressful environment.
They could be very shy and need more one-on-one attention.
[sc:text-divider text-divider-title=”Story continues below gallery” ]These are just a few of the reasons why we place animals into foster care, so that they can receive attention they aren’t able to get at the busy shelter.
Being in foster care can make it more difficult for an animal to get noticed, though, so we’d like to introduce you to some of the cats that are currently being cared for away from the shelter.
Each of these cats has special needs, so their adoption fees are waived for approved adopters.

Patrick: So handsome, with a little crooked smile, Patrick is very sweet and friendly. He has feline leukemia (FeLV+), which means that his immune system is possibly weaker than normal, and he needs to be an only cat (or with other FeLV+ cats). That’s it. He’s awesome!
Toliver: He also has feline leukemia, and needs to be an only cat (or with other FeLV+ cats). Toliver is very gentle and loving and really enjoys play time. He’ll seek out attention, but can be a little shy or jumpy around loud noises or sudden movements. A less active home is best for this adorable boy.
Lennon: Beautiful and gentle, with a cute, playful side, Lennon has occasional medical issues that may need continued care. If you have a quiet home with no pets, and a lot of love in your heart, Lennon is a very special girl.
Carmelita: Twelve-year-old Carmelita was found living under a shed. She desperately wants to be your friend, but sometimes needs a little convincing. Like a shadow, she’ll follow you, curious about your every move. With coaxing, you can pet her and she loves it. Carmelita finds the shelter so stressful that she pulls out her fur. She deserves a quiet, calm home where she can spend her days feeling the comfort and love she never had.
Trixibell: Her royal highness, as her foster family refers to her, is used to being spoiled and getting what she wants. It shows in her waistline. A girl of very generous proportions, Trixibell needs a home filled with loving discipline, so that she can gradually lose the extra pounds. In return, she’ll provide lots of loving attention. She’s a real sweetheart!
Watching an animal you’ve cared for go on to have a chance at a happy life is a wonderful feeling.
