Brown County Schools places the safety of our school community as one of our district’s top priorities. To help safeguard our school community, we’ve taken an important step that I want to share with you.
Our district is now using SafeSchools Alert, a tip reporting service that allows students, staff, parents and community members to submit safety concerns to our administration via four different platforms:

If you are student, parent or community member, you can easily report tips on bullying, harassment, drugs, vandalism or any safety issue you’re concerned about through SafeSchools Alert.
Every tip SafeSchools Alert receives about our district is immediately logged in the system and our administration is notified so that they can investigate and take appropriate action. Importantly, tips also may be submitted anonymously.
The statistics regarding the need for bullying and school safety incident reporting are staggering. Recent national data shows that every seven minutes, a child is bullied at school. One in 3 teens report being bullied and 1 in 2 students report being cyberbullied.
Every day, 160,000 children miss school due to fear of attack or intimidation. Every year, 19,000 bullied children attempt suicide and sadly, many are successful.
Lastly, 57 percent of students report that they would not report an incident if they could not do it anonymously.
This data proves that the implementation of SafeSchools Alert is one important step that our district can take to help with these very concerning statistics.
Every tip that is submitted by text, email, web or phone is immediately logged in our SafeSchools Alert system. Our school administrators are prepared to investigate and manage the tips that are submitted so that we can swiftly gain resolution.
By using SafeSchools Alert, the district now has one centralized system that lets administrators conveniently receive tips from their school community.
We are able to receive immediate notification and routing of tips that makes it easy for administrators to assign, manage and track incidents to resolution. The district has access to valuable exportable administrative reports that the district can submit to the state to show compliance with the state bullying laws.
These reports also allow the district to monitor district safety incidents by victim, offender, building and incident type to help the district in our prevention efforts.
