REGISTER TO VOTE

The deadline to register as a Brown County voter or to change the address of your registration is Tuesday, Oct. 11. Call the Brown County clerk’s office at 812-988-5510, visit the courthouse between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. weekdays or go to indianavoters.com.

VOTE ABSENTEE

If you wish to vote absentee by mail, you must request a ballot from the county clerk’s office by Monday, Oct. 31.

You can vote early in person at the County Office Building, 201 Locust Lane, in the first-floor small conference room. Early voting will be offered:

• Wednesday, Oct. 12 to Friday, Nov. 4 on weekdays, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

• Saturdays, Oct. 29 and Nov. 5, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

• Monday, Nov. 7, 8 a.m. to noon

GOING ELECTRONIC

This fall, all Brown County voters — except those voting absentee by mail — will use electronic voting machines, not paper ballots. To see a video and read a story about how the machines work, visit bcdemocrat.com/2016/08/30/hi_tech or stop by the clerk’s office in the courthouse to try using a machine.

ELECTION DAY

Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 8. Brown County polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. To find your polling place and see a ballot with candidates for all offices, including state and national, visit indianavoters.com and type in your address.

BRING ID

All walk-in absentee and Election Day voters need to present a government-issued photo identification prior to voting. In order to be acceptable, the identification must state the name of the voter, contain the voter’s photograph, have an expiration date and still be valid or expired after Nov. 4, 2014, and be issued by U.S. or Indiana government.
