Nashville man faces felony after OWI arrest

A Nashville man is facing two felonies after Nashville Police found him lying on the ground on Wells Drive Sept. 30.

Nashville Police Officer Kyle Seward reporting smelling alcohol on Gary L. Benefiel, 67, of Wells Drive. A witness also reported seeing him drive.

A breath test showed Benefiel’s blood-alcohol content to be 0.18, more than twice the legal limit for a driver, the police report said.

Benefiel was charged Oct. 4 with two misdemeanors which were elevated to felonies since he had been convicted of driving while intoxicated twice in five years.
