Historical society quilt show winners announced

The results are in for the Brown County Historical Society’s annual quilt show presented by the Pioneer Women’s Club.

Best of Show was awarded to Nancy Bennett of Freetown for a six-year project, “Stars and Compasses.”

Jan Storm pieced a sampler quilt with a variety of stars. Her “Sampler Stars” was machine-quilted by Susan Hobson and won the Best Machine Quilting Award.

Joyce Shook entered a quilt named “Green Deltas.” The heirloom quilt, hand-stitched and quilted by her husband’s great-grandmother, won Best Hand Quilted entry.

Judge Cindy Claycamp chose Jackie Spencer‘s quilt “Afternoon Delight” as her favorite.

First place — Val Morris for “Land of the Quilter, Home of the Brave”

Honorable mention — Morris for “Scrap Zoo”

Youth/Baby Quilt

First place — Lu Brunnemer for “Color Wheels”

Honorable mention — Brunnemer for “Tender Hearts”

Small Scale Quilt

First place — Brunnemer for “Fall Delights”
