BELMONT — A Chicago woman told police she could not remember what caused her to crash head-on with another vehicle on State Road 46 West Dec. 15.

The crash happened on State Road 46 West near T.C. Steele Road at around 9 a.m.

Claire S. Hogan, 22, Chicago, was westbound.

Melissa S. Breedlove, 48, Bloomington, told police she was eastbound when she saw Hogan run off the road and over-correct, then cross the center line, hitting her head-on, an accident report by Nashville Police Officer Kyle Seward said.

Hogan’s 2006 Nissan Sentra sustained heavy front-end and passenger side damage. It was in the middle of the road when police arrived, Seward reported. Breedlove’s vehicle was in a ditch on the east side of the road and also sustained heavy front-end damage with all airbags deploying, the report said.

Hogan was treated by EMS at the scene for foot, hand, neck, back and spine pain. She was later taken by medical helicopter for further treatment.

Breedlove had side pain and was treated at the scene. She told EMS and police she would check up at the hospital on her own.

Both vehicles were towed.
