Expanded offerings from Women Writing for a Change

BLOOMINGTON — Women Writing for a Change Bloomington, now a nonprofit organization, is expanding its offerings of writing circles and workshops for winter and spring.

A new circle, Telling The Truth, focuses on the art of personal narrative. It is a semester-long writing circle for women with three 13-week options available. Other program offerings at 4638 E. State Road 45 include: Soul Collage, Words & Silence (coed offering), The Empty Nest (coed offering), Loving a Changing Earth, Writers in the Woods, How Many Words is a Picture Worth (coed offering), Project Circle, Moon Circle (quarterly) and Grandmother Circle.

Other programs planned include some for girls in the fourth through 12th grades and for home-schoolers.

A class preview, for $25, will be offered from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Jan. 16 or from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 17.

Three workshops planned at art gallery

Three workshops featuring three artists will be conducted monthly in the Art Education Studio at the Brown County Art Gallery, 1 Artist Drive, through March.

Each requires participants to bring their own supplies.

Still Life with Wayne Campbell is from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 21 and 22. The workshop, $150, focuses on oils. Campbell is president of the Brown County Artists Association.

From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Feb. 25, Jeanne McLeish will conduct a $60 class that includes any medium.

All Color Media, led by Wyatt LeGrand from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 4, costs $125.

Art guild hosts annual young artist show in February

In February, the Brown County Art Guild, 48 S. Van Buren St., will have its annual young artist exhibit, featuring work by artists younger than 18 in a variety of styles and media.

The exhibit will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, Feb. 10 through 25, and noon to 4 p.m., Sundays, Feb. 12 through 19, or by appointment. All work is available for purchase.

Awards will be given at a reception from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25. Five awards will be given in the following categories: Best of Show, $150; first place, $125; second place, $100; third place, $75; and honorable mention, $50. Visitors are asked to vote in the People’s Choice category.
