Widowed group

The Brown County Widowed Group will sponsor euchre parties at Sycamore Valley Community Center, 746 Memorial Drive by the fairgrounds Tuesdays at 1 p.m. Jan. 24 and Feb. 14.

Pioneer women

The Pioneer Women’s Club meets from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesdays at the Brown County History Center on East Gould Street.

The group seeks to support the historical society and the History Center.

The second Wednesday is block-of-the-month quilting. The last Wednesday includes a special program with a lesson and a pitch-in lunch.

Rotary Club

The Brown County Rotary Club meets for breakfast at 7:15 a.m. Thursdays in Nashville’s Artists Colony Inn, 105 S. Van Buren St.

Area residents interested in learning more about Rotary are welcome.

Quilters guild

COLUMBUS — Doors open at 8:45 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1 for the monthly Columbus Star Quilters Guild meeting, which starts at 9:30 a.m.

The February program, at St. John’s Masonic Lodge No. 20, 4131 Rocky Ford Road, includes a show-and-tell of member projects and a presentation from Heidi Surface. A physical therapist and athletic trainer, Surface will speak on how to sit while sewing to alleviate and avoid physical issues associated with sewing.

All are welcome.

Peaceful Valley Heritage

The Peaceful Valley Heritage Preservation Society will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14 in a lower-level meeting room of the Howard F. Hughes Community Building, 209 N. Van Buren St.

All are welcome. The organization serves to recognize and preserve historic, cultural and natural resources of Brown County. Meetings are the second Tuesday of each month.

Photography club

The Brown County Photography Club will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14 at the Brown County Public Library, 205 N. Locust Lane.

The club is open to anyone interested in photography. Meetings the second Tuesday of each month include photo shares and tech tips. The club also schedules one photography day trip each month and exhibits work in local venues several times each year.

WRAPS

After a period of dwindling attendance at meetings, the Writers, Readers and Poets Society will go into a period of dormancy. After Daylight Saving Time ends March 12, efforts will be made to revive interest in the group.
