Pioneer women

The Pioneer Women’s Club meets from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesdays at the Brown County History Center on East Gould Street.

The group seeks to support the historical society and the History Center.

The second Wednesday is block-of-the-month quilting. The last Wednesday includes a special program with a lesson and a pitch-in lunch.

Woodturners club

UNIONVILLE — The Village Woodturners, a group that focuses on projects made by wood lathe, will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, at 5760 N. Tunnel Road, just off Highway 45, at Don Housman’s shop.

Club member Max Monts will demonstrate how to turn platters for the kitchen and other uses. The meeting will include snacks and a short business session, as well as show and tell time where interested individuals can display and discuss projects they’ve recently made by lathe.

Rotary club

The Brown County Rotary Club meets for breakfast at 7:15 a.m. Thursdays in Nashville’s Artists Colony Inn, 105 S. Van Buren St.

Area residents interested in learning more about Rotary are welcome.

Widowed group

The Brown County Widowed Group will meet at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, at Sycamore Valley Community Center, 746 Memorial Drive at the fairgrounds.

Attendees are asked to bring tributes to read in honor of those who have passed on, keeping in mind that February is the month of presidents and St. Valentines Day.

Any widowed person can attend.

The group will also sponsor euchre parties at the center at 1 p.m. Tuesdays, Feb. 14 and 28.

Beekeepers club

The 10 o’clock Beeline Beekeepers Club will conduct its first meeting for the year at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 13, in a lower-level meeting room of the Brown County Public Library, 205 N. Locust Lane. Meeting discussion will include getting hives ready for spring.

Anyone interested in bees or beekeeping is welcome. Those interested in starting a beehive are particularly encouraged to attend. Experienced beekeepers in our club are available as mentors to anyone considering this activity.

The Brown County Widowed Group will sponsor a euchre party at Sycamore Valley Community Center, 746 Memorial Drive by the fairgrounds at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14.

Peaceful Valley Heritage

The Peaceful Valley Heritage Preservation Society will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14 in a lower-level meeting room of the Howard F. Hughes Community Building, 209 N. Van Buren St.

All are welcome. The organization serves to recognize and preserve historic, cultural and natural resources of Brown County. Meetings are the second Tuesday of each month.

Photography club

The Brown County Photography Club will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14 at the Brown County Public Library, 205 N. Locust Lane.

The club is open to anyone interested in photography. Meetings the second Tuesday of each month include photo shares and tech tips. The club also schedules one photography day trip each month and exhibits work in local venues several times each year.

WRAPS

After a period of dwindling attendance at meetings, the Writers, Readers and Poets Society will go into a period of dormancy. After Daylight Saving Time ends March 12, efforts will be made to revive interest in the group.
