Police: Christmas lights used as a weapon

A Bloomington man has been charged after police said he struck a woman in the face with Christmas lights during an argument Nov. 27.

When Brown County Sheriff’s Department Sgt. Scott Bowling arrived at the home, he saw two women standing outside in the 10000 block of State Road 46 West, one with a mark under her right eye.

The victim said she was arguing with Robert M. Gilman, 29, when he threw a wad of Christmas lights at her, striking her in the face. She said they were arguing about her leaving since they were not getting along, the report said.

The other woman had been letting her stay with her and Gilman for a few days, the report said.

The other woman said Gilman was not trying to hit the victim. She said Gilman was mad and threw the lights down, accidentally hitting her.

A search for Gilman was unsuccessful, but he was booked into jail and bonded out Feb. 6 after charges were filed.

He was charged Feb. 3 with battery resulting in bodily injury, a Class A misdemeanor.
