The new director of transportation for Brown County Schools is also a former one.

After less than a year away from the department, Roger Cline is back leading it. Last July, Cline left his job as an administrative assistant for the transportation department to take a job with Premier Energy in Columbus.

He had been the transportation department director from 2009 to 2013 before leaving to become the Brown County Highway Department superintendent. After a year with the highway department, he returned to the schools transportation department as an administrative assistant.

He also worked many years in the department when Doug Cauble was transportation director in the late 2000s.

The Brown County School Board of Trustees approved Cline’s hiring March 2 and he started work March 6. His salary is $52,900 per year plus benefits.

Previous transportation director Cal Blake resigned in January after six months on the job.

Cline, 54, has lived in Brown County his entire life and was a student in Brown County Schools.

He said the director job is challenging, but he’s ready to come back. “I do miss it. I miss being in Brown County,” he said.
