Greg Vilardo, manager of the Nashville McDonald’s Restaurant, has been selected as an outstanding restaurant manager by McDonald’s of Central Indiana. These are among the top restaurant managers in the country, McDonald’s reported in a news release.

“Vilardo has improved daily operations, profitability and developed a strong team to deliver outstanding guest experiences and continues to go above and beyond to build the business,” the release said.

“Greg is a tremendous asset to the restaurant team,” said Gerry Stieglitz, McDonald’s owner/operator. “He always demonstrates strong leadership skills and continues to strive to improve the daily operations of the restaurant. He is a true example of an exemplary McDonald’s employee and is committed to supporting the community we serve.”

Karen Smiar

COLUMBUS — Karen Smiar of Nineveh was recognized at the Indiana University-Purdue University Columbus Honors Convocation on April 12. Smiar received the Jack P. Young Chemistry Award and she won one of 13 Office of Student Research Grant awards for 2016-17.

Danielle Prosch

WEST LAFAYETTE — Danielle C. Prosch was named to the dean’s list at Purdue University for the fall 2016 semester. Students must earn a grade-point average of 3.5 or better to qualify for the list.

A 2016 Brown County High School graduate, Prosch is majoring in pre-veterinary sciences. She is the daughter of Steve and Suella Prosch of Spearsville.
