Our Folks Honors: Burns, Bishop, Junior Duck Stamp Contest

Judy Burns

Former scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 190 Judy Burns received the Silver Beaver Award from the Hoosier Trails Council Scouts.

Recipients are registered adult leaders who have made an impact on the lives of youth through service given to the council.

Others from Troop 190 recognized at the gala were Jackson Smith for selling $4,260 worth of popcorn; and 2016 Eagle Scouts Jonathan Catt, Ian Catt, Jackson Kelp, Abraham Oliver, Malachi Smith and Jake Simpson.

Alanna and Aris Bishop

FREDERICK, Colorado — Alanna Bishop, sixth grade, and Aris Bishop, seventh grade, were recently inducted into the Junior Honor Society at Carbon Valley Academy charter school.

Their parents are Chris and Wendy Bishop of Dacono, Colorado, and grandparents are Bev and Larry Bishop of Brown County.

Junior Duck Stamp Contest winners

SEYMOUR — Several Brown County Junior High School students were recognized in the annual Indiana Junior Duck Stamp Contest March 25 at Muscatatuck National Wildlife Refuge.

McKenzie McCulley, 13, of Brown County Junior High School, won third place for seventh- through ninth-grades.

Honorable mentions went to Connor Burns, 14, Savana King, 12, Declyn Wilkerson, 13 and Alia Cagle, 14, all of BCJHS.

The duck stamp contest promotes learning about waterfowl and conservation by creating art. The national junior contest winner’s entry is made into a collectible stamp.
