SPEARSVILLE — Police served a search warrant on a camper on Spearsville Road and found several marijuana plants growing in a bathroom, court documents say.

The owner, Joseph Patrick, 35, of Nashville, now faces a felony for maintaining a common nuisance.

On May 2, Brown County Sheriff’s Detective Paul Henderson, Chief Deputy Brad Stogsdill and Sgt. Bill Southerland served the warrant and noticed a “very profound smell” of marijuana when they opened the door to the camper.

Inside were two smaller doors that led into a former bathroom or closet, where 11 marijuana plants were found in various stages of maturity. There were also florescent lights and a fan, according to a probable cause affidavit.

In a drawer next to the bed was drug paraphernalia, including a marijuana grinder; two glass pipes with white and dark residue; glass and plastic straws, or “tooters,” with marijuana and white, powdery substance residue; and a “one-hitter” that smelled of burnt marijuana, according to the affidavit. Above the bed in the camper was a fast food bag containing a small amount of dried marijuana leaves and stems.

Patrick was charged May 17 with maintaining a common nuisance — controlled substances, a Level 6 felony; possession of marijuana, a Class B misdemeanor; and possession of paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor.
