Coach’s comments: Competing in the 10-team New Castle Invitational at Westwood Country Club, the Eagles experienced both a first and a last. Parker VanNess fired a one over par 71 to capture medalist honors, but the team finished 10th in the field, posting a season-high 427. VanNess was one shot better than New Castle Green’s Brady Wheeler. The two played in the same pairing, making for a very competitive day. The Eagles competed without three of their top four players who were attending prom. Freshmen Brendon Asher (119), Peyton Proctor (125) and Rex Watters (112) rounded out the Eagle lineup and picked up valuable experience. VanNess has been medalist in two of the four 18-hole competitions the Eagles have played in and finished runner-up in the other two.

Coach’s comments: Facing a tough Whiteland Warrior team, the Eagles traveled to The Legends Golf Course in Franklin and were soundly defeated. Capturing medalist honors was BC’s Parker VanNess with a solid 38. Ben Rygiel was the only other Eagle to break 50 with a 48, and the Eagles were no match for the depth of the Warriors who put all eight of their players between 40 and 48.

Brown Co.: Parker VanNess 35 (medalist), Ben Rygiel 46, Tyler Poling 51, Dawson Dunnuck 54, Brendon Asher 55, Rex Watters 65.
Coach’s comments: Shooting a 186, the Eagles were eight strokes better than their previous match but still fell to the Edgewood Mustangs by 11 strokes. The Mustangs simply had too much depth, placing all six of their players between 42 and 47. Medalist honors went to BC’s Parker VanNess with a one under 35. Brown County hosts Indian Creek and Morristown in an 18-hole match slated for Tuesday, May 30 at 2:30 p.m. before competing in the IHSAA sectional Friday, June 2 at the Indiana University Golf Course. The Eagles tee off at 8 a.m.
