A crowd of community members and veterans gathered for a Memorial Day service honoring veterans and an addition to the veterans’ monument in front of the Brown County Courthouse. The addition honors Cold War, Iraq and Afghanistan war veterans. The ceremony was hosted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Harold Gene Moore Post No. 6195.

Brown County Commissioner Diana Biddle declared the day Bob Vollmer day in honor of Brown County’s oldest veteran, who turned turned 100 in May. He served in World War II.

The ceremony featured the unveiling of the new memorial addition, a gun salute and placing flowers and American flags on the monument.

Brown County High School students sang the National Anthem. Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts from Troop and Pack 190 were color guard during the ceremony.
