BEAN BLOSSOM — A man whom police pulled over for driving a golf cart on State Road 135 North on June 1 was arrested on drug-dealing charges.

Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy Andrew Eggebrecht stopped Christopher Steele, 35, of St. Louis, Missouri, after he saw Steele throw a bag into the woods near Weeping Willow Drive.

His report said the bag contained 15 grams of THC wax, 134 grams of marijuana, 5 grams of cocaine, 49 capsules of an unknown narcotic, capsules that field-tested positive for morphine, 9 tablets of an anti-seizure medicine, one amphetamine tablet, several other unknown substances that were sent to the state police lab for testing, small plastic baggies, a digital scale and $439 of “suspected drug income.” Another $389 was seized from his wallet when he was booked into jail.

Eggebrecht said he saw Steele and two passengers drive the golf cart from the Dollar General in Bean Blossom across the highway to a driveway, and then on or alongside the highway until he met up with him at Weeping Willow Drive.

Steele told him that he was told it was OK to drive the cart on the highway; he had been at the Bill Monroe Music Park. His passengers were from California and New Jersey, the report said.

He told Eggebrecht the marijuana was his. When asked what the capsules were, he told the officer that they were “some sort of research drug,” the report said.

Steele was arrested; the passengers were told to take the golf cart back to the music park.

He was charged June 2 with dealing in a narcotic drug, possession of a narcotic drug and dealing in a Schedule I controlled substance, all Level 5 felonies; and dealing in marijuana, possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana, all misdemeanors.
