Shrine club

Brown County Shrine Club members presented Murat Potentate Art Borton with a donation check of $1,500 to go to Shriners Hospitals For Children last week. Presenters of the check at the Murat’s annual Brown County summer festival included vice president Aaron Harden, secretary Phil Stephens, past president Harry Bond, president Jim Goodman and long-standing member Bob Ferguson.

Rotary club

The Brown County Rotary Club meets for breakfast at 7:15 a.m. Thursdays in Nashville’s Artists Colony Inn, 105 S. Van Buren St.

Area residents interested in learning more about Rotary are welcome.

Picnic for friends groups

A picnic hosted by Friends of Brown County Library will be at 6 p.m. Thursday, June 22, at the library.

All Friends of Brown County Library, Friends of Brown County State Park and Friends of T.C. Steele State Historic Site, as well as their families, are welcome.

Each group takes a turn hosting the annual gathering. The purpose of the picnic is to foster friendship among members of the groups and an understanding of what each organization works to accomplish. The host group provides main course and drinks. Members are asked to bring a dish to share with other attendees.

Local magician Rich Hill will provide entertainment.

Widowed group

The Brown County Widowed Group will sponsor a euchre party at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 27 at the Sycamore Valley Community Center at the fairgrounds.

Any widowed person is welcome, along with a new spouse or friend. For more information, call Keith Bradway at 812-597-0811.

WRAPS

The Writers, Readers and Poets Society meets from 7 to 9 p.m. first and third Thursdays each month to read and discuss the literary compositions of those present. The next meeting is July 6. Meetings are at the Brown County Public Library, 205 N. Locust Lane. All are welcome.

Woodturners club

UNIONVILLE — The Village Woodturners, a group that focuses on projects made by wood lathe, meets at 7 p.m. second Wednesdays every other month. The next meeting will be July 11. For directions, contact Don Housman at 812-720-1174 or [email protected].
