Man dies in crash on Bear Wallow

A local pastor was killed in a two-vehicle crash Sunday evening.

Ernest Martin Jr., 36, of Brown County, died at the scene, Brown County Coroner Earl Piper said Monday morning.

The crash happened in the 3400 block of Bear Wallow Hill Road at around 8:45 p.m. June 25. Piper said Martin had three passengers in his car who were taken from the scene before he arrived at around 9:40 p.m.

Information about how the crash happened and about any other injured people was not available at press time.

Martin was the pastor of Gnaw Bone Wesleyan Church, according to the church’s Facebook page.

The Brown County Sheriff’s Department, Nashville Police Department, Brown County (Nashville) and Hamblen Township volunteer fire departments worked the scene until about 11:30 p.m., according to dispatch logs.
