Emily Walker
BEAVER FALLS, Pa. — Emily Walker of Nashville was named to Geneva College’s dean’s list for the spring 2017 semester. She is an English major.
Students must earn a grade-point average of at least 3.6 to be eligible for recognition.
Kathy Anderson
INDIANAPOLIS — Kathy Anderson of Nashville will serve as chairman of the Indiana Arts Commission for the next two fiscal years.
Anderson is a graduate of Indiana University’s School of Nursing. Originally from Evansville, she and her family lived in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for 37 years before returning to Indiana to enjoy retirement.
Anderson has been actively involved with the Brown County Playhouse, Indiana Heritage Arts, and the Nashville Arts and Entertainment Commission. She is a member of the IU Jacobs School of Music Advocacy Board and Women’s Philanthropy Leadership Council. In 2014, Anderson was awarded an IU Distinguished Alumni Service Award.
“Thinking about arts on the state level is a challenge I relish,” Anderson said. “I am particularly delighted to lead the commission as it embarks on a new, carefully-crafted and widely vetted strategic plan to place community engagement at the heart of its work.”
The IAC is dedicated to the vision of the arts everywhere, every day, for everyone in Indiana. Executive committee officers are chosen by fellow commissioners to serve two-year terms. The committee implements the IAC’s strategic plan, oversees the management of agency policy and procedures, and is responsible for hiring the agency’s executive director.
Spencer Smith
Spencer Smith has graduated from the University of Arizona with a doctorate degree in auditory neuroscience and a clinical doctorate degree in audiology.
Smith, a 2006 Brown County High School graduate, is the son of Denise Harter and grandson of Benjamin and Wanda Smith of Nashville.
After graduation, he began a postdoctoral research position in the Auditory Neuroscience Laboratory at Northwestern University, where he studies the effects of aging and neuroplasticity on hearing.
