SCHOOL NEWS: School board approves personnel changes

The Brown County School Board of Trustees approved the following July 20:

  • Declaring a 1996 Ford F-150 corporation vehicle as salvage, so it can be posted for sale.
  • A one-year maternity leave request for Van Buren Elementary School paraprofessional Shannon Krieg, August 2017 to June 2018.
  • A schedule modification for Terri Whitcomb to work at Brown County Intermediate School two days per week and Brown County Junior High School three days per week for the 2017-2018 school year.
  • Separating BCJHS eighth-grade football coach Jeff Moore, effective immediately. This was not a termination.
  • Separating BCJHS assistant football coach Justin Schwenk, effective immediately. This was not a termination.
  • Separating BCHS band director Nathanael Sudduth, effective at the end of last school year. This was not a termination.
  • Appointing Sprunica Elementary School and Helmsburg Elementary School art teacher Kelly Schwenk, full-time with benefits, $15 per hour, Monday through Friday, effective Aug. 7. She is a replacement for Natalie Van Zuiden. To replace Schwenk, Heather Reeves was appointed full-time with benefits, $10.25 per hour, 184 days.
  • Appointing SES student services advisor Paige Wetzel, full-time with benefits, $37,413, effective Aug. 7. She is a replacement for Jaclyn Hardin.
  • Appointing BCIS special education teacher Cortney Hitchcock, full-time with benefits, $36,388, effective Aug. 7. She is a replacement for Ali Kiser.
  • Appointing SES Title I paraprofessional Barbara Young, part-time without benefits, $10.25 per hour, four days per week, effective Aug. 7. She is a replacement for Emily Roberts.

  • Appointing SES special education paraprofessionals Sasha Robinson and Holly Sanders, part-time without benefits, $10.25 per hour, three days per week, effective Aug. 7. Both are replacements for Julie Emkes.
