Letter: Volunteers serve farmers market with dedication

To the editor:

The Bean Blossom Farmers Market would like to thank the community volunteers who have helped at the market each Friday since May. We especially thank the young men of Boy Scout Troop No. 193, their leaders and parents who have helped the Bean Blossom market with parking, putting up the canopies, signs and tables since May. Their energy, enthusiasm and dedication have been an inspiration and joy. As they return to school, we wish each of the young men a great and successful year.

We look forward to continuing to work with one of the Scouts, Matt Bruce, who has chosen the Children’s Garden at St. David’s, location of the Bean Blossom Market, as his Eagle Scout project. Matt will be designing, constructing, installing and landscaping around a Little Library resources area for parents and children. This area will offer a place to explore, experience and enjoy the garden and learn about the pollinators, planting, tending and harvesting. Community children and parents are encouraged to come play and explore the Children’s Garden.

We also would like to thank Sandy Higgins, Jackson Township trustee, who has organized community volunteers to help at the market. Sandy and her crew manned the bounce house for the Children’s Day, supervised play and crafts for children at the farmers market, and have been willing to promote and fill in where needed.

The Bean Blossom Farmers Market continues through August and September on Fridays from 4 to 7 p.m. ending with the Harvest Festival on Oct. 6. We thank the community for supporting this market.
