Man flown to Indy after off-road vehicle accident

CORDRY-SWEETWATER — Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating an off-road vehicle accident that occurred Aug. 13 in the 8700 block of Nineveh Road.

Witnesses to the accident, which happened around 4 p.m., told officers they saw the vehicle traveling down the road, losing control, veering off the road and striking a barn.

The driver, Christopher Oder, 38, of Indianapolis, was flown by medical helicopter to IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis with head trauma. As of that evening he was listed in critical but stable condition.

He was not wearing protective equipment at the time of the incident. Alcohol is believed to have played a factor, conservation officers report. The incident is still under investigation.
