U.S. Army Sgt. Jonathon M. Hunter, 23, of Columbus, was killed in action on Aug. 2, 2017, in Afghanistan during an attack on a NATO convoy. The Columbus East graduate was with the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
His parents are Kimberly and Brian Thompson of Brown County and Mark C. Hunter of Columbus.
