Coach’s comments: Heading into the WIC Girls’ Golf Championships, the Brown County Lady Eagles had secured a top three seed. The team lived up to its expectations with a solid third-place finish behind conference champion Greencastle and runner-up Indian Creek. The Braves’ Lauren Parsley captured medalist honors with a well-played 78. The Eagles established a new school record at 382, which was nearly 40 strokes better than their season average. Junior Ashley Masteller’s 83 was good for third overall and enabled her to achieve all-conference honors for the third consecutive year. Joining Masteller on the all-conference team was senior Meghan Cassiday who shot a personal best of 97. Coach VanNess and I were extremely proud of the girls and their performance. All but one had never seen the course before. We feel as if we are heading in a positive direction as we prepare for the second half of the season. The Eagles travel to Hidden Hills Golf Course for a match with Eastern Greene Wednesday, Aug. 30.

Coach’s comments: This was long day for the Eagles and wrapped up a grueling first two weeks of the season. The young Eagles have made some really good strides and continue to improve over the last two weeks. I saw some really good play from all the players, and with just two matches next week, the Eagles will get some much needed rest. In our two wins today, I was really impressed with Chase in how he handled the pressure of having to come back after losing his first set. Aaron seemed to settle into a good rhythm in his second match. Our freshmen continue to get valuable match experience as do our junior varsity players. The players all have kept a positive attitude and continue to be leaders in sportsmanship.
