Julia Ann Taylor, 82, of Fishers, Indiana, formerly of Bloomington and Nashville, passed away Saturday, Sept. 2, 2017, at IU Health North Carmel Hospital, with her family by her side.

She was born on March 3, 1935, in Bloomington, Indiana, the daughter of Lester Earl and Bernadette (Williams) Grissom. Julia married Melvin Ray Taylor on Oct. 29, 1954 in Bloomington; they were married 62 years.

She worked as a nurse in special care nursery for Bloomington Hospital for many years. Julia was very talented in a variety of crafts including ceramics and porcelain dolls. Mel and Julia moved many times because they enjoyed fixing up old houses that she enjoyed decorating. Square dancing and playing games like Scrabble, bridge & euchre with Mel and their friends were some favorite pastimes. She loved to shop for clothes and loved to give gifts. Julia was always involved in her church and loved serving the Lord. She faithfully attended church and prayer groups. She was always involved in church bazaars, fixing food for the priests and volunteering at St. Vincent de Paul. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and many friends.

Julia is survived by her daughters, Cynthia Ann (Steve) Dunn of Lakeland, FL,
Pamela Taylor (Bruce) Cather of Hudson, IL; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Mel; and seven of her 11 brothers and sisters.

A funeral service will be at 10 am Saturday, Sept. 9, at  Allen Funeral Home & Crematory, 4155 Old State Road 37 South in Bloomington, with the Rev. William Stumpf officiating.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.

Burial will follow at 2:30 p.m. in St Joseph Cemetery, Loogootee, Indiana.
