No. 3 doubles: Noah Cochran/Cesar (BC) d. Sam Chisham/Blayne Lockwood (OV) 6-4

Coach’s comments: The Eagles did not start the week off like they wanted. They had high hopes going into the match with Owen Valley and came up a little short, losing to the Patriots 2-3. The lone winners were the No. 1 single (Chase Watson) and doubles (Abe Oliver and Elijah Roush). If you look at the scores, we were competitive in a couple of the matches and a simple break or two and we win 4-1. We just let this one slip away from us. Our inexperience in close matches is something we have been working on and we have improved it as the season has progressed. In the future I would expect us to start being on the winning end of the close matches.

Brown Co.: 1-10, 0-3 WIC East

No. 2 singles: Christian Lawhead (S) d. Noah Cochran (BC) 8-3

No. 3 singles: John Oliver (BC) d. Brett Otte (S) 8-7 (8)

No. 2 doubles: Ethan Maggart/Cesar Ruiz (BC) d. Eric Blacklidge/Greg Walker (S) 8-7 (6)

Coach’s comments: The Eagles took the courts against the Owls of Seymour and came away with a 1-4 loss. The lone winners were the doubles team of Abe Oliver and Elijah Roush. They won another third-set super tie-break. We had some more strong play from this young team. The junior varsity once again showed that playing time has helped them by getting three victories and coming close in the others. The Eagles will try to complete their match against Triton Central tomorrow if weather does not interfere.

Brown Co.: 1-11, 0-4 WIC East

Sept. 14

Brown County 5, Sullivan 0

No. 1 singles: Chase Watson (BC) d. Kegan Meng (S) 6-0, 6-0

No. 2 singles: Aaron McCann (BC) d. Patrick Condon (S) 6-1, 6-1

No. 3 singles: Spencer Blee (BC) 1-0

No. 1 doubles: Abe Oliver/Elijah Roush (BC) d. Jared Couch/Nick Jones (S) 6-0, 6-0

No. 2 doubles: Aiden Burt/Nolan Patterson (BC) d. Brayden Cagle/Nolen Gettinger (S) 6-0, 6-1

Coach’s comments: The Eagles came away with a much-needed victory tonight over the Sullivan Golden Arrows. This Sullivan team was really struggling to get a victory. It was nice to see the Eagles play up to their level and not down to their opponents. Next up for the Eagles is Northview on Saturday in the WIC crossover match for the seventh or eighth place in the conference.

Brown Co.: 2-11, 0-4 WIC East

Sept. 16

Northview 4, Brown County 1

No. 1 singles: Chase Watson (BC) d. Clayton Buck (N) 6-2, 4-6, 6-2

No. 2 singles: Owen Tipton (N) d. Aaron McCann (BC) 4-6, 6-4, 6-2

No. 3 singles: Tyler Hess (N) d. Nathaniel Fox (BC) 6-0, 6-0

No. 1 doubles: Jalen Satterfield/Brevin Cooper (N) d. Abe Oliver/Elijah Roush (BC) 7-6 (2), 6-2

No. 2 doubles: Caleb Swearenger/Benjamin Goshen (N) d. Aiden Burt/Nolan Patterson (BC) 7-6 (2), 6-2

Coach’s comments: The Eagles fell to the Knights of Northview in the seventh/eighth place game. This was a repeat match from earlier in the season where the Knights defeated the Eagles 5-0. I thought we really competed today, and a one little break in either tie break, we come away with an upset win. The Eagles will not be satisfied with an eighth-place finish in the conference after finishing second, first and second the last three years. The valuable match experience that this young team is getting will pay dividends in the future.

Brown Co.: 2-12, 0-5 WIC East
