Farm Fest heralds start of fall

GNAW BONE — Locals and visitors can pet animals, pick a pumpkin, bounce in a castle and eat ham and beans this weekend at the annual Kelp’s Farm Fest.

Events at Kelp’s Pumpkin Patch, 6473 State Road 46 East, will take place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 7 and 8.

Activities include a ham and bean dinner with cornbread and desserts, sorghum mill demonstrations, pumpkin-carving contest (judged at 3 p.m. Sunday), kids’ games with prizes, hay rides, face painting, a petting zoo, and an antique tractor and farm machinery display.

Pumpkins, mums, squash, Indian corn, gourds and other fall items will be sold.
