BELMONT — A woman and a child were injured in a crash on State Road 46 West near Jackson Creek Road at about 2 p.m. Monday.

The driver, Shirley A. Adams, 76, Columbus, told police she did not know what happened and she might have passed out, an accident report by Sgt. Bill Southerland with the Brown County Sheriff’s Department states.

Southerland said it appeared Adams left the road, went into a ditch, struck a culvert and came to a stop after hitting a tree.

Adams and a child in the car were taken to a hospital by ambulance for treatment of face abrasions. Both were wearing seat belts.

Adams’ 2012 Honda Civic was towed.
