Rotary club

The Brown County Rotary Club will meet at 7:15 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 26 at Nashville’s Artists Colony Inn, 105 S. Van Buren St.

This is the club’s “avenues of service” meeting, at which members discuss what they are doing and what they would like to do.

Some projects members are undertaking include staffing Mother’s Cupboard, completing the structure over the town pump on the Village Green, cleaning up T.C. Steele Road, staffing the Reality Store at the Junior High School, staffing trick-or-treat on the Salt Creek Trail and organizing the Rotary Youth Leadership program at Bradford Woods.

Members of the community are invited to attend, especially those interested in being of service to the community.

Weight loss group

COLUMBUS — National nonprofit weight-loss group, Take Off Pounds Sensibly, also known as TOPS, meets in the MainSource Bank meeting room, 2310 W. Jonathan Moore Pike. Monday meetings begin with weigh-ins at 10:30 a.m. followed by the meeting at 11:30 a.m.

WRAPS

The Writers, Readers and Poets Society meets from 7 to 9 p.m. first and third Thursdays each month to read and discuss the literary compositions of those present. The next meeting is Nov. 2. Meetings are at the Brown County Public Library, 205 N. Locust Lane. All are welcome.

Cemetery preservation society

The Brown County Cemetery Preservation Society, a committee of the Peaceful Valley Heritage group, has changed its meeting date and time to 4:15 p.m. on the second Tuesday of the month. The cemetery preservation committee will meet in the archives room at the Brown County History Center, 90 E. Gould St.

A class, “Symbolism in the Cemetery” will be offered at 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 9 in a lower-level meeting room of the Brown County Public Library. The class will be led by DNR Director of Special Initiatives Jeannie Regan-Dinius.

The public is welcome at all events.

Peaceful Valley group

Peaceful Valley Heritage Inc. is a preservation group which meets at 6:30 p.m the second Tuesday of each month in the Brown County Community Foundation (Howard F. Hughes) Building, 209 N. Van Buren St. Meetings are open to the public.

Woodworkers club

The Brown County Woodworkers Club will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1 at Kent McPherson’s Quarter Sawn Flooring business, 2082 State Road 45, Building 3A, Helmsburg.
