VAN BUREN TWP. — An under-21 driver involved in an early-morning crash on Poplar Grove Road Nov. 22 was arrested after police said she was driving under the influence.

Lt. Mike Moore with the Brown County Sheriff’s Department responded to the crash at about 6:30 a.m. in 4900 block of Poplar Grove Road. Moore reported smelling alcohol on the driver, 20-year-old Emily R. Pollitt of Indianapolis.

Moore also reported that Pollitt’s eyes were red/bloodshot, her manual dexterity was impaired, and she swayed and miscounted while counting backwards, a probable cause affidavit states.

A breath test showed her blood-alcohol content to be 0.08. Pollitt was charged with four misdemeanors for driving while intoxicated and illegal consumption of an alcoholic beverage on Nov. 27.
